The idea behind Saint Monica

Inspired by the values of patience, perseverance, care and enduring hope. These values are deeply relevant to the work of development: meaningful change takes time, but it also takes practical action, accountable systems and the willingness to remain committed when implementation becomes difficult.

We created Saint Monica to bring together two things that should not be separated: the professional capability required to build and deliver complex programmes, and the compassion
required to ensure those programmes remain rooted in the real experiences of people and
communities.

Our work begins with the recognition that older people are not a residual category of society. They are parents, mentors, professionals, caregivers, entrepreneurs, citizens and holders of
memory. A society that values them better becomes more humane, more resilient and more capable of helping every generation thrive.

Governance and Accountability

Social-impact work depends on trust. Our governance approach is designed to protect the integrity of partnerships, funds and outcomes. For each engagement, we establish clear roles, approved workplans, ring-fenced financial arrangements where required, risk controls, regular
reporting and independent review appropriate to the scale of the work.

Saint Monica Development Resource Limited operates as the commercial advisory and implementation entity. Saint Monica Care Initiatives is the social-impact arm through which direct welfare and community programmes are advanced. As the Initiative’s separate non-profit registration and governance structure are finalised, the two entities will maintain

distinct accounts, agreements, reporting and oversight arrangements.

For complex public, donor-funded or multi-partner programmes, we support the establishment of joint steering committees that bring together the commissioning institution, funders, technical partners and delivery leadership. This ensures that decisions are transparent, risks
are visible and programme ownership remains with the institution it is intended to strengthen.
